We drove up to Hertford yesterday, as Pete was having a 'Fest get together. The rain followed but we are attempting to light the BBQ anyway while I type.
As for the previous weeks in between posts, not a great deal happened. We went camping last weekend in Croyde, and had a particularly fine surfing session in the early evening. We then enjoyed a pleasant evening sampling the delights to be found in the town. Well, the Blue Groove anyway. The evening was beautiful though and we fell asleep happy...

Drew's Zippo
... then awoke at about 2am when the heavens opened and proceeded to shower us for the next 12 hours or so. they did abait for about 15mins just as we where putting the tent away, but the surf was pants so the morning surf plans didn't really come to fruition as we hoped.
Still the highlight of this weekend may well be when Drew finally arrives and I can reunite him with the Zippo that he left at my parents home by accident about 3 years ago and has never managed to get back to him despite our best efforts...
On Friday we went to Tavistock to compete in Rosie's sister's kid's school's quiz evening. Naturally, we won.
I say naturally but it was the vast repository of useless knowledge contained mostly within Joanne's head that really prevailed.
So then over the weekend we went surfing a couple of time at Harlyn Bay, Saturday was good, albeit small - but Sunday was flat as a pancake.
Also, I managed to eat an incredible amount and still feel pretty full. That's what come of being away from home and feeling like you're on holiday... Fun though.
Well, once again we need to start this thing back in the past. Where did I leave off... Oh yes, I was waiting for Rosie to come home.
She had said she was going to be back by 0730, which seemed pretty unlikely. But rolled over at about 0610 to see her standing in the doorway!
So I decided to go back to sleep for a few hours... Then at about 10ish me and Mike (Rosie decided not to join us) drove up to Saunton for a surf. The Surf was pretty good and we had good fun. We were watching the rain storm come closer and timed getting out of the water perfectly to be driving away just as the rain started over us.
I can hardly remember what happened for the rest of the weekend or during the week. Except that due to my own stupidity I managed to remove one of the partitions on my laptop effectively destroying all my important, mostly unbacked-up data. Which was a bit gutting. Then on to Friday, when, after work we drove up to Kathy and David's for the night. They - as ever - put on some spectacular food and we slept well.
Saturday was the day of John and Prue's 120th birthday party. So we got to see all the WTRD again which was fantastic and John and Prue seemed very well. If it hadn't been for the rain it would have been perfect! Neither me nor Rosie were feeling on top form though and so drove home at the end of the evening - good job too, as the next morning I woke up feeling awful and proceeded to spend the whole day in bed with nasty headaches, stomach pain and general unwellness. Rosie fortunately wasn't in the same boat and so was capable of nursing me properly!
So I ended up taking the day off on Monday, during I mostly slept and for the rest of the time watched Doctor Who. By the end I wasn't in so much pain, but the head cold remains. I have been slightly vacant at work, but that's expected I guess.
PS Oh yes and during the party I was talking to Pete who has this project going called Quakr (www.quakr.co.uk) which not only sounds really cool but also meant he got to go to San Fransisco for the Where 2.0 conference which also sounds very cool. The whole idea is to build a virtual world using people's photos. Provided that the photos have the relevant meta-data, e.g. where in the world and which way are they looking, they can be positioned in a virtual space, which you can then "fly-though". Given my PC problems I haven't actually had access to a computer with a web browser with Flash installed so I have only been able to read about it so far... but check it out yourselves.
